Lost Coin Class Notes - 2010-02-23

Tomorrow Daniel would like us to start class early, if possible. Daniel will plan on ending the class early also.

Self-Observation
What it means to be objective to one's self. It is hardest to be consistent with this. It is hard for everybody to see oneself because it throws us into a state where we doubt ourselves.

Observe mechanical manifestations that we tend to identify with. The way we look at the world--we think that it's absolute. However we are seeing the world, we want to see it a different way. We want to stop our mechanical patterns.
When we read the Carlos Castenada books about Don Juan, we think that it is funny when he is told that he is an idiot; it's not as fun when it's about us!

Step 1 of this exercise is to not entrench our position. We get very critical as our egos are very fragile. Try not to do this--try just to see. Not an intellectual thing. We truly want to see ourselves. Just see it. Think of it like being an athlete--i.e. tennis--if you discover that your backhand is bad then life will hit your backhand all of the time.

A buffer is what is between 2 railways so they would never hit each other. This is what is between our 2 I's that never allow them to see each other.

Big terms block your vision, i.e. those who think that they are the most open are usually the most closed. Where are you intellectually stuck?

The day you see that you are telling yourself lies is the day that you are liberated. If you don't see then it's just an identification.
